How can I get my old dog to accept a new puppy?
My old dog is female and she is probably around 10 or so (we don’t know her real age). She was adopted so she is very protective and tends to be cranky with other dogs sometimes but she is usually very friendly. If she sees another dog while on a walk they will play and sniff each other. However if another dog is in the house with her she is cranky. I want to get a chow puppy but I’m scared my older dog will not accept this. What can I do?
You’ve already said your dog won’t accept another dog in the house. So, you don’t get a puppy. It’s that simple. You surely can’t bring a helpless young puppy into a house with this dog who’s unsocialized and undisciplined.
